I am a classical musician (violist) with 20 years of professional experience in orchestra and chamber music. For many years, I have been advising colleagues, students, and fellow musicians in the choice of their tablet.
Along with the many positives of using tablets, I’ve also seen the negatives: tablets crashing just before going on stage, batteries that don’t hold up during long rehearsal days, and missing page turner pedals in concert.
Overview
The Ugee Trio Pad UT3 (launched in November 2024 as the Fun Drawing Pad UT3) is a 14.25-inch Android tablet for drawing, notes and reading. It shares the TCL NxtPaper 14’s hardware but adds a pen, a folio case and a glove. Notebookcheck gives it 74 %: a good drawing tablet with dated hardware. The Gadgeteer and Creative Bloq praise its value; Parkablogs finds the pen too imprecise for exact line work.
The screen is about 16 % larger than the 13-inch iPad Pro’s. Its 3:2 format is taller than 16:10, better for documents and sheet music, and at 202 ppi it is reasonably sharp. The matte TCL panel almost removes reflections; Notebookcheck measured 521 nits, a 6-nit minimum and no PWM flicker. Three modes include black-and-white Ink Paper.
The MediaTek Helio G99 is a 2022 entry-level chip. With 8 GB of RAM, it handles everyday tasks and drawing apps, but not demanding games. The 256 GB of eMMC storage is slow, with no microSD slot. Android 14 includes Google Play and Widevine L1 (HD on Netflix and Prime Video). Ugee has no update policy: the promised Android 15 had not arrived in January 2026, when Notebookcheck found the May 2025 security patch.
The U-Pencil has 4,096 pressure levels and tilt. Notebookcheck finds its 20 ms latency clearly noticeable, and Parkablogs saw wobbly slow diagonal lines and weak palm rejection. There is no official keyboard. Notebookcheck measured 13 hours in its Wi-Fi test, Parkablogs about 5.5 hours at maximum brightness. It weighs 760 g, 180 g more than the 13-inch iPad Pro: Notebookcheck finds it quite heavy, and Parkablogs calls it a tabletop tablet. The four speakers sound weak; the only port is USB-C, with no headphone jack.
Ugee charged $429 in the US (list price $499); its store showed it sold out in October 2026 (Ugee). In Europe the list price is €526, often below €400 (Notebookcheck).
Pros
- Large matte 14.25-inch 3:2 screen, no PWM flicker
- Three color modes, including black-and-white Ink Paper
- Pen, folio case and drawing glove included
- Long battery life (13 h in Notebookcheck’s Wi-Fi test)
- Widevine L1 for HD streaming
Cons
- Slow Helio G99 chip and eMMC storage
- Pen lag (20 ms) and jitter on slow diagonal lines
- Heavy to hold (760 g)
- Weak, hollow speakers
- No update policy, old security patches
- No microSD slot, no headphone jack
Performance

The Ugee Trio Pad UT3 is powered by the relatively old MediaTek Helio G99 processor, released in 2022 and built on a 6 nm process. It is fine for streaming, web browsing, documents and casual games, but it is not made for demanding games, video editing or heavy multitasking. The same chip is used in 8 other tablets of our database, including the Meswao MES-B3 (Pro) and the TCL NxtPaper 14. Compared with other large tablets:
- The Apple M5 in the Apple iPad Pro 13″ (M5) is about 8 times faster.
- The Unisoc T7300 in the Alldocube iPlay 70 Max Pro is about 20 % faster.
- The Ugee Trio Pad UT3 is about 30 % faster than the Callsky Ctab 14 and its Unisoc T616.
Brightness

The screen of the Ugee Trio Pad UT3 reaches 521 nits measured by Notebookcheck, which is enough indoors, but not for outdoor use in the summer (600 nits is the minimum).
Size compared with the iPad Pro and a sheet of paper
