Author Johannes Eva (viola)I am a classical musician (violist) with 20 years of professional experience in orchestra and chamber music. For many years, I have been advising colleagues, students, and fellow musicians in the choice of their tablet.

Along with the many positives of using tablets, I’ve also seen the negatives: tablets crashing just before going on stage, batteries that don’t hold up during long rehearsal days, and missing page turner pedals in concert.

Overview

The Meswao B2 (MES-B2) is a low-cost 14-inch Android tablet, sold since 2024. Meswao presents it for seniors, reading and everyday use, not for demanding apps. No independent review exists yet, so the details below come from Meswao’s own product page.

The 14-inch IPS screen uses the 16:9 format, a wide format made for videos. Its area is about 3 % larger than the screen of the 13-inch iPad Pro, but it is wider and less tall. With 1920 × 1080 pixels (157 ppi), it is not very sharp at this size. Meswao gives 350 nits and 80 % sRGB: enough indoors, too dim for bright daylight. No anti-glare treatment is listed.

Inside is an entry-level MediaTek chip from 2020: the listed cores are those of the MT6769 (Helio G80/G85 family), even though the page title says “G99”. With 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage and a microSD slot, it is enough for the web, video and reading, but slow with heavy apps and 3D games. The B2 runs Android 13 with Google Play, according to Meswao’s blog. Meswao does not mention Widevine L1 (HD on Netflix and Prime Video) for this model and publishes no update policy.

Unlike the B1, the B2 works with an active pen (Microsoft MPP 2.0). Meswao sells a stylus ($45) and a foldable Bluetooth keyboard with touchpad ($59) separately. The 10,000 mAh battery charges at only 15 W (about 4 hours to full); Meswao claims up to 10.5 hours of video. At 1,025 g, the B2 is heavy for a 14-inch tablet. It has four speakers, one USB-C port, no headphone jack (a USB-C adapter is included) and Wi-Fi 5; no SIM slot is listed.

The B2 costs $209 (€199 in Europe) on meswao.com (October 2026), with shipping from the US and Germany and a one-year warranty. The 14.1-inch B1 costs $10 less with the same chip and memory, but without pen support.

Pros

  • Low price for a 14-inch screen ($209 / €199)
  • Active pen support (Microsoft MPP 2.0)
  • Optional keyboard with touchpad ($59)
  • microSD slot
  • Four speakers

Cons

  • No independent reviews yet
  • Slow entry-level chip from 2020 (MT6769)
  • Dim, not very sharp screen (350 nits claimed, 157 ppi)
  • Heavy (1,025 g)
  • Slow 15 W charging (about 4 h)
  • Android 13, no update policy

Performance

Meswao MES-B2: Performance

The Meswao MES-B2 is powered by the relatively old MediaTek MT6769 (Helio G85 class) processor, released in 2020 and built on a 12 nm process. It is an entry-level chip: fine for videos, web browsing, reading and taking notes, but apps open slowly and games have to run at low settings. The same chip is used in the Meswao B1 (MES-B1). Compared with other large tablets:

  • The Apple M5 in the Apple iPad Pro 13″ (M5) is about 11 times faster.
  • The MediaTek Helio G100 in the Doogee Tab E3 Max is about 20 % faster.

Brightness

Meswao MES-B2: Maximum brightness

The screen of the Meswao MES-B2 reaches 350 nits according to Meswao, which is enough indoors, but not for outdoor use in the summer (600 nits is the minimum).
