I am a classical musician (violist) with 20 years of professional experience in orchestra and chamber music. For many years, I have been advising colleagues, students, and fellow musicians in the choice of their tablet.
Along with the many positives of using tablets, I’ve also seen the negatives: tablets crashing just before going on stage, batteries that don’t hold up during long rehearsal days, and missing page turner pedals in concert.
Overview
The Callsky Ctab 14 is a low-cost 14.1-inch Android tablet from Callsky, a brand created in 2024 that sells online, mainly in the US. Callsky presents it for work, streaming and home use, with a case and a stylus in the box. No independent review has been published yet, so the details below come from Callsky’s own product page and cannot be confirmed by measurements.
The 14.1-inch IPS screen uses the 16:10 format, a wide format made for videos, and its area is about 10 % larger than the screen of the 13-inch iPad Pro. With 1920 × 1200 pixels (161 ppi), it is not very sharp at this size. Callsky gives no brightness figure; earlier data mentioned only 290 nits, which would be dim, and no anti-glare coating is listed.
Inside is the Unisoc T616, an entry-level chip from 2021: enough for streaming, reading and the web, but slow with heavy apps and games. It has 8 GB of RAM (the “16 GB” in listings includes 8 GB of virtual memory) and 256 GB of storage, plus a microSD slot shared with the second SIM. Callsky’s page lists Android 15 in its description but Android 14 in its spec table, with Google Play; there is no update policy. Widevine L1 allows HD streaming on Netflix and Prime Video.
The included leather case doubles as a stand, and the stylus is a simple rubber-tip pen; there is no official keyboard, but USB and Bluetooth keyboards work. The 10,000 mAh battery charges at 18 W, and Callsky itself promises only about 6 hours of use. The tablet weighs 2.2 lb (about 1 kg). It has four speakers, one USB-C port and no headphone jack, plus 4G LTE with two nano SIMs (bands 2, 4, 5, 7 and 17: check your carrier) and GPS.
Callsky sells it for $319.99 (October 2026), with a one-year warranty, or two years after registration.

- Great price
- Large 14.1-inch screen
- 16:10 aspect ratio (better than 16:9)
- Comes with a case and an (ugly) stylus
- 1-year warranty, 2 years with registration
Cons
- Display max brightness is only 290 (!) nits
- Very slow Unisoc Tiger T616 processor
- Heavy (2.2 lb or 996 g)
- Slow 18 W charging
- Unclear security updates situation
Performance

The Callsky Ctab 14 is powered by the relatively old Unisoc T616 processor, released in 2021 and built on a 12 nm process. It is an entry-level chip: fine for videos, web browsing, reading and taking notes, but apps open slowly and games have to run at low settings. Compared with other large tablets:
- The Apple M5 in the Apple iPad Pro 13″ (M5) is about 10 times faster.
- The MediaTek Helio G100 in the Doogee Tab E3 Max is about 10 % faster.
Brightness

The screen of the Callsky Ctab 14 reaches 290 nits according to Callsky, which is dim: fine in a dark or dim room, but hard to read near a window and outdoors.
