Overview

The vivo Pad5 Pro is a thin 13-inch tablet for films, games and work, launched in China in April 2025. It is still sold there, although the Pad6 Pro replaced it in March 2026. Only one detailed independent review exists: Notebookcheck rated it 85 % and found it as well equipped as Apple’s iPad Air 13 for a little more than half the price.

The glossy LCD is about 4 % smaller than the screen of the 13-inch iPad Pro. Its 3:2 format, taller than the usual 16:10, suits documents and sheet music. It is sharp (3096 × 2064, 286 ppi), with up to 144 Hz. Notebookcheck measured 683 nits, up to 1,184 nits on small bright areas, accurate colors and no flicker (PWM). Since December 2025, a Soft Light Edition has a matte, etched screen against reflections (vivo).

The fast Dimensity 9400 chip slows down noticeably under long loads (Notebookcheck). It has 8 to 16 GB of RAM and 128 to 512 GB of storage, without microSD. The Chinese OriginOS 5 (Android 15) also works in English and German; Google’s services are preinstalled, so the Play Store can be added (Notebookcheck). vivo publishes no update policy, and HD streaming on Netflix (Widevine L1) is not confirmed.

The Smart Touch Keyboard 5 Pro with touchpad and the Pencil3 cost extra. Notebookcheck measured almost 19 hours of Wi-Fi browsing; the 12,050 mAh battery charges at 66 W. It weighs 635 g (white Ultralight version: 578 g) and is 6.16 mm thin. The eight speakers could be louder (Notebookcheck). According to Notebookcheck, the USB-C port (5 Gbit/s) can drive a monitor; there is no headphone jack, cellular version or GPS.

Prices start at ¥2,999 (8/128 GB); the Soft Light Edition costs ¥3,699 (12/256 GB) (vivo). The iQOO Pad5 Pro (May 2025) is a sister model with a Dimensity 9400+. Import shops asked €570 to €700 in 2025, with their own warranty.

Performance

vivo Pad5 Pro: Performance

The vivo Pad5 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 processor, released in 2024 and built on a 3 nm process. It is a fast chip: demanding games, large drawings and video editing run smoothly. Compared with other large tablets:

  • The Apple M5 in the Apple iPad Pro 13″ (M5) is about twice as fast.
  • The vivo Pad5 Pro is about 4 times faster than the Meswao MES-B3 (Pro) and its MediaTek Helio G99.

Brightness

vivo Pad5 Pro: Maximum brightness

The screen of the vivo Pad5 Pro reaches 683 nits measured by Notebookcheck, which is bright: enough for bright rooms and for outdoor use in the shade, even in the summer.
