I am a classical musician (violist) with 20 years of professional experience in orchestra and chamber music. For many years, I have been advising colleagues, students, and fellow musicians in the choice of their tablet.
Along with the many positives of using tablets, I’ve also seen the negatives: tablets crashing just before going on stage, batteries that don’t hold up during long rehearsal days, and missing page turner pedals in concert.
Overview
The Teclast ArtPad Pro is a low-cost Android tablet with a 12.7-inch screen, a metal body and 4G LTE with two SIM slots, launched in summer 2025. Teclast markets it to artists and students, but reviewers see it mainly as a large, cheap tablet for videos, reading and notes. Notebookcheck rated it 76 % and praised its value, Basic Tutorials gave it 88/100, while ChinaMobileMag (3.8/5) and SmartZone criticized its dim screen.
The IPS screen has 2176 × 1600 pixels (213 ppi), close to 4:3: taller than most Android tablets, which suits documents and sheet music. Its area is about 5 % smaller than the screen of the 13-inch iPad Pro. It is glossy and rather dim: Notebookcheck measured 291 nits and ChinaMobileMag about 240, too little for sunlight. Notebookcheck found no PWM flicker but a bluish tint. Every review measured 60 Hz; Teclast promised a 90 Hz update and now lists “60Hz / 90Hz” (Teclast).
The entry-level MediaTek Helio G99 is fine for browsing, video and notes, but slows down on heavy websites and demanding games. It has 8 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage and a microSD slot shared with the second SIM. Android 15 comes with Google Play, little extra software and Widevine L1 for HD streaming. Teclast has not published an update policy, and there is no fingerprint reader.
The T-Pen (USI 2.0, 4,096 levels) is in the box in Europe, but was sold separately in Parkablogs‘ US offer. It works for notes; for drawing, Parkablogs and ChinaMobileMag found wobbly diagonal lines and unreliable palm rejection. There is no official keyboard. The 10,000 mAh battery lasted 10 hours in Notebookcheck’s Wi-Fi test, but only about 7 hours at SmartZone. The tablet weighs 674 g, and its four speakers sound good.
The list price is €349.99 or $279, but deals and coupons often bring it to about €175–290 (Basic Tutorials, PC Games Hardware, SmartZone).
Pros
- Low price, often discounted
- Metal body, 7.2 mm thin
- Pen included in European packs
- 4G LTE with dual SIM, GPS and microSD
- Good battery life (10 h in Notebookcheck’s Wi-Fi test)
- Four speakers with good sound
Cons
- Dim, glossy screen (291 nits measured)
- 60 Hz screen (90 Hz only promised by update)
- Entry-level Helio G99 processor
- Pen not precise enough for serious drawing
- No update policy
- No fingerprint reader
Performance

The Teclast ArtPad Pro is powered by the relatively old MediaTek Helio G99 processor, released in 2022 and built on a 6 nm process. It is fine for streaming, web browsing, documents and casual games, but it is not made for demanding games, video editing or heavy multitasking. The same chip is used in 8 other tablets of our database, including the Meswao MES-B3 (Pro) and the TCL NxtPaper 14. Compared with other large tablets:
- The Apple M5 in the Apple iPad Pro 13″ (M5) is about 8 times faster.
- The Unisoc T7300 in the Alldocube iPlay 70 Max Pro is about 20 % faster.
- The Teclast ArtPad Pro is about 30 % faster than the Callsky Ctab 14 and its Unisoc T616.
Brightness

The screen of the Teclast ArtPad Pro reaches 291 nits measured by Notebookcheck, which is dim: fine in a dark or dim room, but hard to read near a window and outdoors.
