I am a classical musician (violist) with 20 years of professional experience in orchestra and chamber music. For many years, I have been advising colleagues, students, and fellow musicians in the choice of their tablet.
Along with the many positives of using tablets, I’ve also seen the negatives: tablets crashing just before going on stage, batteries that don’t hold up during long rehearsal days, and missing page turner pedals in concert.
Overview
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ is a large mid-range Android tablet with an S Pen in the box and IP68 water and dust protection, aimed at students, note-taking and video. Reviewers praise its battery life, build and included pen, but find it slow for its price. Notebookcheck rated it 82%, Stuff gave it 4 out of 5 and Expert Reviews only 6 out of 10.
The 13.1-inch screen is wider but about 5% smaller in area than the 13-inch iPad Pro. Its 16:10 format is a wide format made for videos. It is sharp (259 ppi), glossy and runs at up to 90 Hz. It is an LCD, not OLED, so blacks are less deep. Notebookcheck measured 779 nits in high brightness mode and no flicker, and Connect measured 794 nits. Notebookcheck still found the reflections annoying outdoors.
The Exynos 1580 is a mid-range chip: fine for notes, web and video, but weak in demanding games and slower than rivals at the same price. Notebookcheck noticed occasional stutters. There are 8 or 12 GB of RAM, 128 or 256 GB of storage and a microSD slot. The tablet launched with Android 15 (One UI 7) and Google Play, supports Widevine L1 (HD on Netflix and Prime Video), and Samsung promises seven years of updates. Tech Advisor notes that some Galaxy AI features are missing.
The Book Cover Keyboard is sold separately. Notebookcheck measured 18.9 hours of Wi-Fi browsing and Expert Reviews 19 hours of video, excellent results. A full charge at 45 W takes 1.5 to 2 hours. The tablet weighs 664 g and is 6 mm thin, with two speakers. Its USB-C port is only USB 2.0 and cannot drive a monitor (Smartworld); there is no headphone jack.
It launched in April 2025 at $649.99, £649 and €749 (8/128 GB, Wi-Fi); a 5G version is sold in Europe. Store prices dropped below €600 within weeks (Notebookcheck).

- Keyboard sold separately; no headphone jack
Performance

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ is powered by the Samsung Exynos 1580 processor, released in 2025 and built on a 4 nm process. It is a mid-range chip, fast enough for multitasking, drawing apps and most games; only the most demanding games and video editing will push it to its limits. Compared with other large tablets:
- The Apple M5 in the Apple iPad Pro 13″ (M5) is about 4 times faster.
- The MediaTek Dimensity 8300 in the Lenovo Idea Tab Pro is about 20 % faster.
- The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ is about twice as fast as the Meswao MES-B3 (Pro) and its MediaTek Helio G99.
Brightness

The screen of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ reaches 800 nits according to Samsung, which is bright: enough for bright rooms and for outdoor use in the shade, even in the summer. Notebookcheck measured 779 nits.
