I am a classical musician (violist) with 20 years of professional experience in orchestra and chamber music. For many years, I have been advising colleagues, students, and fellow musicians in the choice of their tablet.
Along with the many positives of using tablets, I’ve also seen the negatives: tablets crashing just before going on stage, batteries that don’t hold up during long rehearsal days, and missing page turner pedals in concert.
Overview
The Doogee Tab E3 Max is a low-cost 14-inch Android tablet with 4G LTE. Independent reviews are few. heise gave it 3 of 5 stars: the largest budget tablet it had tested, good as a big, cheap work surface, but with too many compromises for films and series. The Japanese sites HelenTech and Techno-Edge see it as a tablet for videos, e-books and cloud gaming at home, not for travel.
The screen is about 12 % larger than that of the 13-inch iPad Pro. 3:2 is a tall format, better for documents, web pages and sheet music; videos show black bars. At 185 ppi (2160 × 1440), heise could see single pixels up close and measured only 330 nits, too dim for outdoor use, and the glossy screen reflects a lot. Most sources give 60 Hz.
The MediaTek Helio G100 is an entry-level chip: fine for browsing, office work, videos and simple games, but both Japanese reviewers noticed small stutters when scrolling. It has 8 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage and a microSD slot. Android 15 is close to stock Android, with Google services, but Doogee has no update policy, and heise’s unit had an outdated security patch. With Widevine L3, Netflix, Disney+ and Prime Video play only in SD (480p).
There is no pen or keyboard made for it; the VIP Edition adds a Bluetooth keyboard and a mouse. In heise’s PCMark test at 200 nits the 13,500 mAh battery lasted 8.5 hours, an average result, and 18 W charging takes over three hours. The metal body is solid but weighs 992 g. It has Wi-Fi 5, USB-C 2.0, a headphone jack, dual SIM and GPS, but no fingerprint reader.
Doogee lists it at $329, or $359 with accessories (sold out in the US store in October 2026), and at €329.99 in Germany. In Japan it is sold on Amazon and Rakuten.

Performance

The Doogee Tab E3 Max is powered by the MediaTek Helio G100 processor, released in 2024 and built on a 6 nm process. It is an entry-level chip: fine for videos, web browsing, reading and taking notes, but apps open slowly and games have to run at low settings. The same chip is used in the Doogee Tab E3 Pro / U13 and the Teclast T70 Pro. Compared with other large tablets:
- The Apple M5 in the Apple iPad Pro 13″ (M5) is about 9 times faster.
- The Unisoc T7300 in the Alldocube iPlay 70 Max Pro is about 30 % faster.
- The Doogee Tab E3 Max is about 20 % faster than the Acer Iconia A16 and its Allwinner A733.
Brightness

The screen of the Doogee Tab E3 Max reaches 300 nits according to Doogee, which is dim: fine in a dark or dim room, but hard to read near a window and outdoors. heise measured 330 nits.
