I am a classical musician (violist) with 20 years of professional experience in orchestra and chamber music. For many years, I have been advising colleagues, students, and fellow musicians in the choice of their tablet.
Along with the many positives of using tablets, I’ve also seen the negatives: tablets crashing just before going on stage, batteries that don’t hold up during long rehearsal days, and missing page turner pedals in concert.
Overview
The Ninkear T40 is a low-cost 14-inch Windows 11 2-in-1 for office work, web browsing and videos. It came out in March 2024 for about €380, with a detachable keyboard. No independent review with measurements was found (October 2026): Notebookcheck only reported on the launch and expected enough speed for office work and video playback, but not more.
The IPS touchscreen has 1920 × 1200 pixels in the 16:10 format, a wide format made for videos. Its area is about 9 % larger than that of the 13-inch iPad Pro, but at 162 ppi it is not very sharp. Ninkear rates the brightness at only 250 nits, which Notebookcheck pointed out as a weak point: that is dim in a bright room.
The Intel Processor N100 is an entry-level chip: fine for office software, browsing and streaming, slow for photo editing or games. The 16 GB of RAM is generous at this price, and the 512 GB SSD sits in a replaceable M.2 2242 slot. Windows 11 runs normal desktop programs and gets its updates from Microsoft.
The Bluetooth keyboard attaches magnetically and has an RGB backlight and a touchpad; according to Notebookcheck, it only comes with a QWERTY layout. Ninkear’s pictures show a magnetic folding cover as a stand and a “universal stylus pen”, but no pressure-sensitive pen standard is named. The 38 Wh battery should last up to 6 hours according to Ninkear and charges over USB-C (60 % in one hour). The tablet weighs 989 g and is 10 mm thick, so it is heavy to hold. It has two USB-C ports (one with charging and video output, one for data only), a micro HDMI port, four speakers, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2; no headphone jack is listed (Ninkear).
In October 2026, Ninkear’s European store listed the T40 at €299 (regular price €499.97), but it was sold out.
Pros
- Backlit keyboard with touchpad included
- 16 GB of RAM and a replaceable M.2 SSD
- Micro HDMI and USB-C video output
- Low price for a 14-inch Windows tablet
Cons
- No independent review yet
- Dim screen (250 nits, Ninkear’s figure)
- Slow entry-level Intel N100
- Low sharpness for 14 inches (162 ppi)
- Heavy (989 g)
- Short battery life (up to 6 hours claimed)
Performance

The Ninkear T40 is powered by the relatively old Intel Processor N100 processor, released in 2023 and built on a 10 nm process. It is fine for streaming, web browsing, documents and casual games, but it is not made for demanding games, video editing or heavy multitasking. Compared with other large tablets:
- The Apple M5 in the Apple iPad Pro 13″ (M5) is about 5.5 times faster.
- The Samsung Exynos 1580 in the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ is about 40 % faster.
- The Ninkear T40 is about 40 % faster than the Meswao MES-B3 (Pro) and its MediaTek Helio G99.
Brightness

The screen of the Ninkear T40 reaches 250 nits according to Ninkear, which is dim: fine in a dark or dim room, but hard to read near a window and outdoors.
