I am a classical musician (violist) with 20 years of professional experience in orchestra and chamber music. For many years, I have been advising colleagues, students, and fellow musicians in the choice of their tablet.
Along with the many positives of using tablets, I’ve also seen the negatives: tablets crashing just before going on stage, batteries that don’t hold up during long rehearsal days, and missing page turner pedals in concert.
Overview
The OnePlus Pad 3 is a large Android tablet with Google services for work and entertainment. Reviewers praise its speed, screen and battery life, but criticize its weight and the missing fingerprint reader. Stuff gave it 5 out of 5, Expert Reviews called it the best Android tablet around, and Android Police gave it 7.5 out of 10, finding cheaper tablets good enough for most people.
The 13.2-inch screen is about 1% larger than the 13-inch iPad Pro’s. Its 7:5 format is taller and closer to a sheet of paper than the usual 16:10, better for documents and sheet music. The glossy LCD is sharp (315 ppi) and runs at up to 144 Hz. Notebookcheck measured 691 nits on the identical Chinese OnePlus Pad 2 Pro. Blacks are grayer than on OLED tablets.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite is among the fastest chips in Android tablets and stays fast under long loads. There are 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage (16/512 GB also in Europe), without microSD. OxygenOS 15 (Android 15) multitasks well. OnePlus promises three Android updates (up to Android 18) and security updates until June 2031. Netflix and Prime Video play in HD (Widevine L1).
The Stylo 2 pen ($99.99) and the Smart Keyboard with touchpad ($199.99) are sold separately. Expert Reviews measured 16 hours of video playback, GSMArena 14 hours 14 minutes. A full charge at 80 W takes 1.5 to 2 hours; the charger is included in the US, not in Europe. At 675 g it is tiring to hold for long. The eight speakers sound good. There is one USB-C port, but no headphone jack, cellular option or GPS.
OnePlus sells it for $699.99 (12/256 GB) in the US and from €599 or £529 in Europe and the UK (October 2026). In China, the same hardware is sold as the OnePlus Pad 2 Pro and OPPO Pad 4 Pro, without Google services.

Performance

The OnePlus Pad 3 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, released in 2024 and built on a 3 nm process. It is a fast chip: demanding games, large drawings and video editing run smoothly. The same chip is used in 4 other tablets of our database, including the Lenovo Legion Y900 13 and the Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro GT 13 (2026). Compared with other large tablets:
- The Apple M5 in the Apple iPad Pro 13″ (M5) is about 70 % faster.
- The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in the OnePlus Pad 4 is about 20 % faster.
- The OnePlus Pad 3 is about 5 times faster than the Meswao MES-B3 (Pro) and its MediaTek Helio G99.
Brightness

The screen of the OnePlus Pad 3 reaches 600 nits according to OnePlus, which is bright: enough for bright rooms and for outdoor use in the shade, even in the summer. Notebookcheck measured 691 nits.
