Overview
The Huawei MatePad Edge, unveiled in China in November 2025, is a fan-cooled 14.2-inch 2-in-1 meant to replace a laptop. It runs HarmonyOS NEXT, Huawei’s own system (5.1 at launch, 6.1 in 2026), with a PC mode and desktop-style apps such as WPS Office, but it does not run Android apps natively and has no Google services (Huawei Central). No independent test with measurements was found, so the figures below come from Huawei and launch reports.
The flexible OLED screen is about 15 % larger than the screen of the 13-inch iPad Pro. Its 3:2 format is taller than the usual 16:10, which suits documents and sheet music. With 3120 × 2080 pixels (264 ppi) it is sharp; Huawei quotes 1,000 nits peak and P3 colors (Huawei); launch reports give 120 Hz. The Soft Light Edition replaces the glossy screen with a matte anti-glare one.
Huawei calls the Kirin X90A a PC-level chip. Two fans cool every version; the Liquid Cooling Edition (Kirin X90) adds a micro-pump liquid cooling film (28 W of cooling instead of 25 W, Huawei). It has 16 to 32 GB of RAM and 256 GB to 2 TB of storage, without microSD. Huawei has published no update policy; a HarmonyOS 7 beta started in August 2026.
The floating keyboard (¥1,499) has 1.8 mm key travel and a pressure-sensitive touchpad; only the most expensive versions include it. The M-Pencil Pro costs ¥699 (fonearena). A stand is built into the aluminum body (IT之家). The 12,900 mAh battery charges at 140 W (charger included); Huawei gives no runtime. It weighs 789 g and is 6.85 mm thin, with six speakers, a fingerprint sensor and a USB-C port (USB 3.1 Gen 1) for monitors.
It is sold only in China: ¥5,999 (16/256 GB) at launch, ¥5,299 at JD.com in September 2026 (ZOL). The Liquid Cooling Edition costs ¥9,499 (24 GB / 1 TB) or ¥12,999 (32 GB / 2 TB with keyboard).
