I am a classical musician (violist) with 20 years of professional experience in orchestra and chamber music. For many years, I have been advising colleagues, students, and fellow musicians in the choice of their tablet.
Along with the many positives of using tablets, I’ve also seen the negatives: tablets crashing just before going on stage, batteries that don’t hold up during long rehearsal days, and missing page turner pedals in concert.
Overview
The Huion Kamvas Studio 16 is a pen computer: a drawing screen with a complete Windows 11 Pro PC inside, so artists can draw without a separate computer. It has been sold since early 2023. In reviews, Parka Blogs praised its drawing performance but called the battery life the main downside, and Creative Bloq saw it as a real rival to Wacom’s pen computers at a much lower price.
The 15.8-inch IPS screen uses the 16:9 format, a wide format made for videos, and its area is about 31 % larger than the screen of the 13-inch iPad Pro. With 2560 × 1440 pixels (186 ppi) and 60 Hz, it looks sharp at arm’s length, according to Parka Blogs. The matte etched glass is laminated, and both reviewers saw little or no parallax. Parka Blogs measured 100 % of the Adobe RGB color space, but only 262 nits instead of the 400 nits Huion promises.
Huion’s stores now list an Intel Core i7-1355U from 2023 with 16 GB of LPDDR5 memory and a 512 GB SSD; the units reviewed in 2023 had the older Core i7-1165G7, which huion.com still lists. With that chip, both reviewers found drawing smooth, with some lag only while files were exported in the background.
The battery-free PW550S pen (8,192 pressure levels, tilt) is included, and both reviews describe it as accurate and sensitive. There are no shortcut keys and no official keyboard, but any Bluetooth or USB keyboard works. Huion promises about 6 hours of battery life; both reviewers got 4 to 5 hours. At 1.7 kg it is heavy to hold, the built-in kickstand gives way under palm pressure, and the speakers are weak. It has two USB-C ports with video output and a headphone jack, but no video input.
Huion’s US store sells it for $1,499 instead of $1,699 (October 2026); the UK and German stores list it as out of stock.

Performance

The Huion Kamvas Studio 16 is powered by the relatively old Intel Core i7-1165G7 processor, released in 2020 and built on a 10 nm process. It is a fast chip: demanding games, large drawings and video editing run smoothly. Compared with other large tablets:
- The Apple M5 in the Apple iPad Pro 13″ (M5) is about 2.5 times faster.
- The MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ in the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra is about 40 % faster.
- The Huion Kamvas Studio 16 is about 3 times faster than the Meswao MES-B3 (Pro) and its MediaTek Helio G99.
Brightness

The screen of the Huion Kamvas Studio 16 reaches 400 nits according to Huion, which is enough indoors, but not for outdoor use in the summer (600 nits is the minimum). Parka Blogs measured 262 nits.
