I am a classical musician (violist) with 20 years of professional experience in orchestra and chamber music. For many years, I have been advising colleagues, students, and fellow musicians in the choice of their tablet.
Along with the many positives of using tablets, I’ve also seen the negatives: tablets crashing just before going on stage, batteries that don’t hold up during long rehearsal days, and missing page turner pedals in concert.
Overview
The Meswao B5 is a 16-inch Android tablet for videos, reading and sheet music at home. Together with the Acer Iconia A16, it has the largest screen of any tablet on sale in 2026. The B5 has 16 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage and a microSD slot; the cheaper B5 Basic (silver) has 12 GB and 128 GB. No independent review has been published yet (October 2026), so the figures below are Meswao’s.
The screen is about 42 % larger than that of the 13-inch iPad Pro and about 11 % larger than that of Meswao’s 15.6-inch MES-B3. Its 16:10 format is a wide format made for videos. With 1920 × 1200 pixels (142 ppi), the IPS panel is not very sharp at this size. Meswao gives 350 nits, the same rating as the MES-B3, whose screen the MES-B3 review on this site found bright enough indoors but too dim in the sun. Meswao gives neither the refresh rate nor the finish.
The MediaTek Helio G99 is an entry-level chip from 2022, the same as in the MES-B3: fine for videos, web browsing and sheet-music apps, but too slow for demanding games. The B5 runs Android 16 with Google Play, and Meswao says it is Widevine L1 certified, which allows HD on Netflix and Prime Video. Meswao publishes no update policy.
Meswao sells an active stylus (€45; MPP 2.0, according to its blog) and a separate folding Bluetooth keyboard with touchpad (€59), not a keyboard cover. The 12,000 mAh battery charges at 30 W (full in 3.5 hours); Meswao promises 10.5 hours of video. At 1,120 g, the B5 is heavy: 140 g more than the Acer Iconia A16. It has four speakers, one USB-C port, Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.2, but no headphone jack (an adapter is included) and no 4G.
Meswao lists the B5 at $459 or €409 and the B5 Basic at $429 or €399 (Meswao).

Performance

The Meswao B5 / B5 Basic is powered by the relatively old MediaTek Helio G99 processor, released in 2022 and built on a 6 nm process. It is fine for streaming, web browsing, documents and casual games, but it is not made for demanding games, video editing or heavy multitasking. The same chip is used in 8 other tablets of our database, including the Meswao MES-B3 (Pro) and the TCL NxtPaper 14. Compared with other large tablets:
- The Apple M5 in the Apple iPad Pro 13″ (M5) is about 8 times faster.
- The Unisoc T7300 in the Alldocube iPlay 70 Max Pro is about 20 % faster.
- The Meswao B5 / B5 Basic is about 30 % faster than the Acer Iconia A16 and its Allwinner A733.
Brightness

The screen of the Meswao B5 / B5 Basic reaches 350 nits according to Meswao, which is enough indoors, but not for outdoor use in the summer (600 nits is the minimum).
