I am a classical musician (violist) with 20 years of professional experience in orchestra and chamber music. For many years, I have been advising colleagues, students, and fellow musicians in the choice of their tablet.
Along with the many positives of using tablets, I’ve also seen the negatives: tablets crashing just before going on stage, batteries that don’t hold up during long rehearsal days, and missing page turner pedals in concert.
Overview
The OnePlus Pad 4 is a very thin Android tablet with Google services for work, reading and games. Reviewers praise its speed, screen and battery life, but note that it changes little from the Pad 3. Notebookcheck rated it 88% (very good), GSMArena calls it a very good option for productivity, and Digit recommends it to new buyers rather than Pad 3 owners.
The 13.2-inch screen is about 1% larger in area than that of the 13-inch iPad Pro. Its 7:5 format is taller than the usual 16:10, which suits documents and sheet music. The glossy LCD is sharp (315 ppi), flicker-free and runs at up to 144 Hz. Notebookcheck measured 901 nits and Digit about 1,080 nits. Blacks are less deep than on OLED (1,060:1 contrast measured).
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 makes it one of the fastest Android tablets. It has 8 or 12 GB of RAM and 256 or 512 GB of storage, without microSD. OxygenOS 16 (Android 16) has almost no extra apps and good multitasking, but OnePlus has published no update policy. At launch, Netflix and Prime Video played only in SD, because Widevine L1 is missing (Fonearena, GSMArena).
The Stylo Pro pen and the Smart Keyboard with touchpad are sold separately and do not fit older OnePlus Pads. Notebookcheck measured over 25 hours of Wi-Fi browsing; the 80 W charger is in the box and refills the 13,380 mAh battery in about 85 minutes. The tablet weighs 672 g for 5.94 mm. There is no fingerprint reader, cellular option or GPS.
In India it costs ₹59,999 (8/256 GB) or ₹64,999 (12/512 GB). In Europe, Notebookcheck lists €799 (about €700 at retailers in July 2026); OnePlus’s own European and US stores do not sell it. In China the same hardware is sold as the OPPO Pad 5 Pro and the OnePlus Pad 3 Pro, with Chinese software (Fonearena).
Pros
- Very fast Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, little throttling

- Clean software with good multitasking
Cons
- Netflix and Prime Video only in SD at launch (no Widevine L1)
- No update policy published
- LCD with lower contrast than OLED (1,060:1 measured)
- No fingerprint reader, cellular option or GPS
- No microSD slot
- Pen and keyboard sold separately, hard to find in Europe
Performance

The OnePlus Pad 4 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, released in 2025 and built on a 3 nm process. It is one of the fastest chips in any tablet: it handles everything, including heavy video editing, 3D work and the most demanding games. The same chip is used in the vivo Pad6 Pro. Compared with other large tablets:
- The Apple M5 in the Apple iPad Pro 13″ (M5) is about 40 % faster.
- The Xiaomi XRING O3 in the Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max is about 10 % faster.
- The OnePlus Pad 4 is about 20 % faster than the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra and its MediaTek Dimensity 9400+.
Brightness

The screen of the OnePlus Pad 4 reaches 700 nits according to OnePlus, which is bright: enough for bright rooms and for outdoor use in the shade, even in the summer. Notebookcheck measured 901 nits.
